I have always preferred being outdoors than in, which led me to a weekend
gardening job as a schoolboy.

My slightly obsessive nature meant I could maintain gardens to a high standard and customer satisfaction was (and is) everything to me.

In 1998 I started a garden maintenance company and gained my RHS certificate in horticulture, working alongside my brother. Together we founded Chase Gardening and Landscaping and spent many years working on garden design and landscaping projects, alongside regular maintenance customers. Decades later my passion for gardens was stronger than ever and I felt privileged to do a job, that many consider an enjoyable hobby.

 

However, following a serious bout of Lyme disease and turning 40, I decided I needed a slight change of direction and a new challenge. I founded Gardens by Nick to share my extensive knowledge and passion to help people create their dream gardens.

 

With over 20 years experience of working ‘on the tools’ in garden
maintenance, landscaping, and designing gardens, I aim to design gardens that inspire, delight, and exceed my customers’ expectations.

A recent new passion for Japanese gardens allowed me an opportunity to exhibit a show border at the RHS Wentworth Woodhouse show In July 2025. It was a fantastic experience and I proudly came away with a gold medal!

I also volunteer at a local Japanese garden every Saturday.
